Update 2nd April 2020 13:27 GMT: OnePlus decided to offer insurance extension and to launch a loaner phone service in a few countries.

Similarly to warranty extension announced last week, OnePlus decided to extend phones insurance to May 31st if it was going to expire between March 1 and May 30.

Loaner phone service is now available on a limited, trial basis in Canada, United Kingdom, United States and the Netherlands.

Before handing your device to repair center, OnePlus will ship you a loaner phone first so that you can backup your data. Mind you will have to give them a deposit which they will keep if you don't give them back the device after your unit is repaired.

Following OnePlus' CEO Pete Lau post regarding current global pandemic situation, Tom B. (in charge of Global Service Strategy Operations department) shared some changes related to OnePlus' support policy.

They consist in the following:

  • Extend customers' warranty to May 31 if it was going to expire between March 1 and May 30
  • Extend return and replacement period from 15 to 30 days
  • Provide free two-way shipping for all returns, replacements and repairs

Additionally, OnePlus is working on a program which will allow you to have a back-up device while yours is being repaired (pilot phase will be limited to Europe and North America with limited stock).

Should you have any questions regarding their service continuity plan, FAQ pages are available on support website (Europe, India, North America).

Stay safe!
