Great news: OnePlus has announced their newest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6T! Whether you're in for a new phone, or are just into some news about the latest tech, this article will cover everything you'll need to know about it.

What’s new?

The 6T brings some cool new features, of which the biggest are highlighted below.

Perhaps the coolest new feature of the 6T is that it has a fingerprint scanner built into the screen itself. This allows you to unlock your phone by tapping your finger on the front, while the scanner does not take away valuable screen space like it did on the OnePlus 3/ 3T series.

Another cool thing to mention is that the OnePlus 6T will be getting an updated design, with slightly more curved edges and a smaller screen notch (raindrop-shaped). The screen will be 6.41 inches and covers more than 85% of the front of the phone.

There are 2 color options: Midnight Black and Mirror Black. Mirror Black is shiny, dark black. Midnight Black is matte (slightly grey-ish) black

In terms of cameras, the OnePlus 6T has what you'd like to expect from a phone in this price class. It has dual (16+20MP) back cameras, featuring  Nightscape filters for better night photography and Studio Lighting to make better portrait photos. In terms of video recording, the OnePlus 6T does 4K at 60FPS.

Finally, the OnePlus 6T will be super fast thanks to the latest SnapDragon 845 chipset. OnePlus is highlighting the improved performance within the 6T product slogan: Unlock the speed.

However, there is one thing that might disappoint you: The OnePlus 6T will lose its 3.5mm headphone jack. OnePus states they'll be using the gained space for improving its battery size, but it remains highly debatable if the gained battery life outweights the loss of the headphone jack.

Launched: October 29th in NYC, 30th in India

As stated in the title, the 6T was officially revealed on 2 days, October 29th and October 30th. The launch event took place at October 29th in New York, and on October 30th and New Delhi, India

Software

The OnePlus 6T will be running Android Pie (9.0) out of the box. As usual, it runs OxygenOS, the OnePlus-optimized version of Android. You'd want to have Oxygen Updater on it as well, but:

Due to enhanced security measures in the OTA update system, updates for the 6T cannot be automatically (read: faster than regularly) added to Oxygen Updater. This may cause delays or missing updates in the app. More details about this will be available later.
