The unfortunate day has come. The 9.0.6 update will be the final update for 3/3T. OnePlus devices usually enjoy a 2 year period of major software support, along with an additional year of security updates.

The 3 and 3T were released in 2016, which is 3.5 years ago already. According to the software maintenance schedule, these devices are set to receive their final update, with the following changelog:

  • Updated Android security patch to 2019.10
  • Updated GMS apps
  • General bug fixes and improvements

Rollout has begun, and we've already added incremental ZIPs. Full update ZIPs will be added to the app as soon as they become available.

This is a sad day for 3/3T owners, but there's a silver lining: OnePlus announced that they will be highlighting some great custom ROM alternatives by the developer community. See the source post linked below.

This is the relevant text from the source post:

"Starting next week, we will start highlighting some of great work done by the developer community, for those of you considering to have a go at Custom ROMs."
