At this time, only OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open can install this Developer Preview. We will update this article and send notifications again, in case more devices receive these builds.

A Developer Preview is primarily meant for developers so they can test & develop their apps, or for enthusiasts who simply want to explore the latest Android version. Google Pixel devices (Pixel 6-series onwards) received Android 15 developer previews earlier this year on 16th February and 21st March, and for those devices, it's currently in the beta release stage. Android 15 is expected to reach platform stability in June/July, and would be considered "final" following that.

In a community post, OnePlus announced that their flagships OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open can install their first Android 15 developer preview (note: they're choosing to call it a beta, but it most definitely is a developer preview). This availability lags behind the Pixels by about 3 months, which was expected (OnePlus 11 had a similar relative timeline for its Android 14 developer preview). However, we don't recommend installing this on your main device, especially if you're not familiar with development or alpha/beta testing. There are quite a few known issues right off the bat (this is for Developer Preview 1; for DP 2, refer above):

OnePlus 12

  • There are some compatibility issues with the Bluetooth connection.
  • In certain scenarios, Wi-Fi may not be able to connect to the printer
  • The Smart Lock function cannot be used.
  • Some camera functions display abnormally in certain scenarios.
  • In some scenarios, the Multi-Screen Connect function is abnormal when connecting with PC or PAD.
  • Some third-party applications have compatibility issues such as crashes
  • Stability issues in specific scenarios.
  • Personal hotspot may not work after modifying the security settings.
  • The Auto Pixlate function fails during screenshot preview.
  • After taking a photo, the photo does not show the ProXDR button.

OnePlus Open

  • There are some compatibility issues with the Bluetooth connection.
  • Some camera functions display abnormally under certain scenes.
  • In some scenarios, the Multi-Screen Connect function is abnormal when connecting with PC or PAD.
  • Some third-party applications have compatibility issues such as crashes
  • There are stability issues in specific scenarios.
  • The split screen function of the main screen is abnormal in some scenarios.
  • After taking a photo, the photo does not show the ProXDR button.
  • Personal hotspot may not work after modifying the security settings.
  • The Auto Pixlate function fails during screenshot preview.
  • Long pressing the main body of a picture in Photos cannot trigger the smart select and cutout function.
  • Creating the System Cloner and open, when input the main system password, it will crash to the desktop and the multitask button and home button of are unavailable.
  • The size of the drop-down status bar quick switch is abnormal after the screen resolution is switched between Standard and High. You can switch to the original resolution to restore it. (Method: Settings > Display & brightness > Screen Resolution > Standard or High)

Which devices support the preview?

All variants of the following devices, excluding carrier-branded ones (T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.):

  • OnePlus 12
  • OnePlus Open

Based on past trends, other devices (Pad & Pad Go, Nord & Nord CE-series, 12R, 11, 11R, etc.) may not get any Android 15/V Developer Preview. They will, however, receive a Closed or Open Beta of some kind in the future. Keep an eye on our articles to stay in the loop.

Where can I get the preview?

Before installing, be aware that installing a developer preview carries a risk of bricking your phone. Make sure you know what you're doing, and backup your files/media before proceeding. Also ensure your battery level is at least 30% and you have at least 6 GB space left on your device.

Additionally, your devices must fulfill these current version requirements:

  • OnePlus 12: below 14.0.0.802 (A.68)
  • OnePlus Open: below 14.0.0.801 (C.60)

If your current OS version does not meet the criteria, you'll need to flash a rollback ZIP as instructed at the end of this article. Please, do not try bypassing this limitation as neither us nor OnePlus would be deemed responsible for any installation failures or other issues.

Assuming you pass all the aforementioned criteria, you can install the developer preview using our app itself: switch to the "Android 15/V Developer Preview" update method in the app's settings. Also, ensure that the "Advanced mode" setting is turned off. Then, go back to the main screen of our app and download what it shows. If you don't see anything, and advanced mode is turned off, then your device does not meet the current OS version requirement. Refer to the forum threads for more information:

Can I rollback to OxygenOS 14?

Yes, please read the forum thread of your device as linked above for detailed instructions. Rolling back will completely wipe all your data, so please take a backup before proceeding.

Below is the rollback/downgrade packages for the OnePlus 12 & OnePlus Open. Make sure you choose the correct rollback package for your device and region. We are providing these links purely for your convenience, as rolling back isn't natively supported by our app. After downloading the correct rollback package, move the file from the "Downloads" directory to the topmost directory of internal storage (the same directory that the "Downloads" folder is in). You may also have to rename ".jar" at the end to ".zip".

If your device is the Indian, EU, or GLO/ROW variant, then open Settings -> About device -> Version and tap "Build number" 7 times. This will enable Android's built-in "developer mode" (you might have to enter your phone's PIN/password too). Once this is done, "Local upgrade" will once again be visible in Settings -> About device -> Software update -> top-right button.

If instead your device is the NA variant, you'll have to download & install this APK (provided by OnePlus): OTA-OnePlus-localUpdate-Oplus_key_t_s.apk, then use that to install updates locally.

Rollback packages

The following packages will rollback your device to OxygenOS 14, and will wipe all your data. These are not the packages you should download if you're looking to update to Android 15/V. For that, close this news article and change your update method to "Android 15/V Developer Preview" in the app's settings.

Remember: these are rollback packages — they're not the packages you should download if you're looking to install Android 15/V. For that, close this news article and change your update method to "Android 15/V Developer Preview" in the app's settings.
