These days companies do not announce products without first announcing the event at which the products are to be announced (which leads to people like us announcing their announcement). Earlier this month, OnePlus posted a thread stating their plan to unveil 4 new products at Milan, Italy on 16th July.

The event shall start at 09:00 EDT / 15:00 CEST / 18:30 IST, and it will be "brand-new watching experience exclusively on the OnePlus Community". Have they built a bespoke streaming platform for their own use, or will they simply embed a YouTube live stream in a post? Only time will tell. Regardless, there's some information we already know about the upcoming devices. Per OnePlus themselves, the Nord 4 features a metal unibody construction, which should to a more robust build quality. (wait for JerryRigEverything's bend test though)

OnePlus Nord 4

A leaker — Sanju Choudhary — posted the above image, and with it also provided a list of specs for the Nord 4:

  • Compute: Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3
  • Front camera: 16MP Samsung S5K3P9
  • Rear cameras: 50MP, 5MP IMX355 ultra-wide
  • Display: 120Hz 6.74" OLED Tianma U8+, 2150 nits peak brightness
  • Battery & charging: 5500 mAh, 100W SuperVOOC (wired)

They claim the price is expected to be ₹31,999 (around $380 / €350).

OnePlus Pad 2

In May this year we wrote an article on Pad 2 wallpapers, and now there's also a rumour of it coming with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. If true this would be a significant improvement over its predecessor's MediaTek Dimensity 9000. This could make it quite competitive with other brands' offerings, such as premium Samsung tablets.

Noted leaker Ishan Agarwal provided detailed specifications for the Pad 2 on Twitter. The device is apparently simply a rebranded version of the Pad Pro that launched in China recently.

  • Compute: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
  • RAM & storage: 8+128 GB, 12+256 GB
  • Cameras: 13MP (main), 8MP (front)
  • Display: 144Hz 12.1" IPS LCD, 3000x2120, Dolby Vision, 900 nits peak brightness
  • Battery & charging: 9150 mAh, 67W SuperVOOC (wired)

The SoC is the only big upgrade from the original, as most of the other specs either remain the same or are small improvements, for example the display has increased in size from 11.6" for the original Pad, to 12.1" with the Pad 2. Sadly, the technology remains at LCD instead of a shift to OLED.

There are also a few accessories that will launch alongside this device: OnePlus Stylo 2, Smart Keyboard, Folio Case. Indian pricing for OnePlus Pad 2, Smart Keyboard, and Stylo 2 have been leaked by Yogesh Brar on Twitter₹45,999 (~$550), ₹11,999 (~$144), and ₹5,000 (~$60) respectively. The original Pad launched at ₹35,999, so such a substantial bump is unfortunate to see, especially when the only notable spec bump is the SoC (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 up from MediaTek Dimensity 9000).

OnePlus Watch 2R

We already covered Watch 2R's launch in China last month (which curiously was called simply "Watch 2" there, despite being different from the product we know, outside China). It shall come with a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip, 2 GB RAM, and 32 GB storage. It sports a 1.43" AMOLED display with a purported 1000 nits peak brightness, 500 mAh battery, and an IP68 water & dust resistance rating. The specs are almost exactly the same as the Watch 2, which is fine given that the "R" nomenclature is considered "budget", but one major difference is that the Watch 2R comes with eSIM support. Indian pricing is unknown at the moment.

We'll update this article as and when new information surfaces, and especially after the event concludes, on 16th July 2024.
